On October 19, 2024, Oleg Gaidukevich, a member of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and deputy chairman of the Permanent Commission on International Affairs, shared his vision of the roles of women and men in family relationships:<\/p>\n

A man is a man, a woman is a woman. A woman should spend more time at home, living with her family, while a man should work more. That’s the framework I have in my mind. Some might say I’m outdated, others might argue that women should be given the opportunity to develop. But who is against that? This is just how I see the world, how I see family. I like it this way; it feels good to me. I’m expressing my opinion. From nine to six, I developed myself, and then I came home and soared. No. A woman should work less, after all. I am an advocate for perhaps even legally establishing that men should work more than women. Why not? As a deputy, I should think about and consider this issue someday. Why not? So that women work less. Consequently, they will earn less money. That’s not a big deal. Pay the same amount. We are creating a law together.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
