FactCheck.LT website was established in 2022 and is owned by the non-profit organization Digitalhub, VšĮ (registration number: 306163313), registered in Lithuania.
FactCheck.LT is an independent media and analytical center strengthening information integrity in the Baltic-Eastern European region. Founded by Belarusian journalists and researchers working in exile from Lithuania, we operate at the intersection of investigative journalism, think-tank research, and civil society support.
As a media organization, we investigate and report on Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI) operations targeting EU Member States, candidate countries, and democratic movements. Our verified reporting documents Russian and Belarusian state-backed disinformation campaigns, providing accountability and early warning.
As a research institute, we develop methodologies for detecting information manipulation at scale, using AI-powered monitoring across TikTok, YouTube, and Telegram. Our technical infrastructure—including GPU-accelerated coordination detection and semantic analysis—enables 24-48 hour early warning that supports prebunking responses.
In strategic communications, we support NGOs, independent media, and civil society organizations with frameworks to counter disinformation, develop effective narratives, and build resilience against information attacks—critical for groups operating in contested spaces.
Our work aligns with the European Democracy Shield, supporting information space integrity, media freedom, and societal resilience. We contribute to EU initiatives including the European Network of Fact-Checkers, the Centre for Democratic Resilience, and EDMO regional efforts.
Our unique value combines native understanding of authoritarian tactics, advanced technical capabilities, and practitioner experience. We’ve documented coordinated campaigns, trained 50+ journalists, and developed tools used across the region.
We partner with civil society networks to build a more resilient democratic information environment.
Our vision: Serve as a regional hub providing shared technical infrastructure, training, early warning capabilities, and strategic insights that empower democratic actors across the Baltic-Eastern European space.
