Fear as Argument
3,618 videos in corpus

Threats, catastrophes and “imminent” dangers replace argumentation. The viewer is meant to fear, not think.

Example from data
Channel: СБТВ · 1,436 views · Propaganda score: 9/10
What AI detected: Repeated threats and fear scenarios: ‘
How to explain to a neighbour

Ask: “What specific fact is behind this threat? Is there a verifiable source?” If the answer is only emotion, it’s manipulation.

👹 External Enemy / Demonization
1,640 videos in corpus

The opponent is not a discussion partner but an enemy. “Nazis”, “Russophobes”, “Western agents” — labels instead of analysis.

Example from data
Channel: СБТВ · 12,245 views · Propaganda score: 9/10
What AI detected: Direct insults to opponents and foreign politicians: ‘
How to explain to a neighbour

If a person or country is described only with labels and no facts — you’re looking at demonization, not information.

🎓 False Authority
1,878 videos in corpus

Citing an “expert”, leader, or “insider” as proof — without verifiable data. Authority replaces argument.

Example from data
Channel: Телеканал ОНТ · 2,564 views · Propaganda score: 7/10
What AI detected: Repeated reliance on President, reportings to ‘Главе государства’, detailed presidential directives and assessments (‘Глава государства держит на личном контроле’, ‘Александра Лукашенко доложена…’).
How to explain to a neighbour

Ask: “Who is this expert? Can their claims be verified from another source?” A real expert does not fear questions.

🃏 Card Stacking / Cherry-Picking
3,248 videos in corpus

Only facts supporting the thesis are shown. Context, refutations, and alternative explanations are cut.

Example from data
What AI detected: Selective presentation of Epstein/Clinton allegations, Western loan/confiscation claims and omitting context: "Билл-то 26 раз летал на личном самолете Эйпштейна… Они эти деньги сами сейчас будут соб
How to explain to a neighbour

Ask: “What does the other side say? Are there facts that contradict this conclusion?” One-sidedness signals manipulation.

⚖️ Stability vs Chaos
869 videos in corpus

Any alternative to current power = chaos. Change = destruction. The only safety is the status quo.

Example from data
Channel: NEWS.BY: новости Беларуси и мира · 1,616 views · Propaganda score: 7/10
What AI detected:
How to explain to a neighbour

Ask: “Stability for whom? Who benefits from this particular order?” Real stability includes rights, not just silence.

🔄 Chaos Abroad / Whataboutism
745 videos in corpus

“And you are lynching Negroes.” Systematic showcasing of Western problems as a response to any domestic criticism.

Example from data
What AI detected: «
How to explain to a neighbour

Ask: “Does this answer my question or change the subject?” Problems elsewhere don’t cancel problems at home.

💬 Loaded Language
1,859 videos in corpus

Words chosen for emotion, not meaning: “outrage”, “barbarism”, “horror” — instead of describing facts.

Example from data
Channel: СБТВ · 12,245 views · Propaganda score: 9/10
What AI detected: Frequent profanity and charged terms: ‘курво’, ‘обосралась’, ‘дрянь’, ‘отбросы’, ‘мясо’ to describe opponents
How to explain to a neighbour

Replace emotional words with neutral ones. If the meaning disappears — there was no meaning. Only emotion.

📜 Historical Revisionism
380 videos in corpus

Rewriting history to justify current policy. Soviet past = golden age, national identity = threat.

Example from data
Channel: NEWS.BY: новости Беларуси и мира · 52,935 views · Propaganda score: 8/10
What AI detected: «
How to explain to a neighbour

Ask: “Who else describes these events? Are there alternative interpretations?” History with only one version is not history — it’s ideology.

🎯 Scapegoating
612 videos in corpus

All problems have an external cause: the West, the opposition, “traitors”. The regime is the eternal victim of conspiracy.

Example from data
Channel: СБТВ · 12,245 views · Propaganda score: 9/10
What AI detected: Blames West, Poland, Lithuania, and ‘либералы’ for internal/external problems and security threats
How to explain to a neighbour

Ask: “What depends on us? What decisions did our side make?” If others are always to blame — you’re being distracted.

⚗️ False Equivalence
862 videos in corpus

“The West isn’t perfect either” = “our system is fine.” Individual case = systemic problem. Incomparables equated.

Example from data
Channel: СБТВ · 5,940 views · Propaganda score: 7/10
What AI detected: «
How to explain to a neighbour

Ask: “Is this really the same thing? Are scale, context and consequences comparable?” Usually — no.

👑 Personality Cult
1,373 videos in corpus

Leader = nation. Criticising the leader = treason. Simultaneously “one of us” and an infallible commander.

Example from data
Channel: CTVBY · 3,976 views · Propaganda score: 8/10
What AI detected: «
How to explain to a neighbour

Ask: “Are all national successes one person’s doing? What happens if you criticise them?” A healthy system survives criticism.

📢 Coordinated Amplification
1,368 videos in corpus

“Everyone thinks so.” One thesis repeated across different channels simultaneously — creating the illusion of consensus.

Example from data
Channel: NEWS.BY: новости Беларуси и мира · 8,197 views · Propaganda score: 8/10
What AI detected: "народ миллионами выходит в поддержку действующего режима"
How to explain to a neighbour

Check: the same thesis, same words, across different channels on the same day? That’s not coincidence — it’s coordination.

Methodology. This analysis draws on FORESIGHT, a multimodal AI monitoring system developed by FactCheck.LT. The system processes video transcripts from Belarusian state YouTube channels (BelTA, CTVBY, СБТВ, ОНТ, NEWS.BY) through a structured LLM pipeline, producing classifications across 20 propaganda techniques with confidence scores. The transcript_analysis table covers 2,511 videos from January–February 2026. Examples are selected by highest model confidence score (≥0.7) and propaganda score.
